How to order balcony railings?

First, send us an enquiry with the balcony dimensions (if you don’t have the measurements, we can also come on-site to measure).
Based on the information received, we prepare a quote for the client.
If the client agrees with the initial price indication, we arrange a convenient measurement appointment and our specialist comes to measure the balcony or balconies.
On this basis we prepare the final quote, and if it is acceptable we conclude a contract with the client for the manufacture and installation of the balcony railings and send an invoice for a 50% advance payment.
Once the advance payment has been received and the contract signed, we begin ordering the balcony railings from our partner.
Before installation of the balcony railings, the client is contacted and a suitable time for installation is agreed.
The balcony railings are installed, after which the client pays the second instalment (50%).

For business clients and bulk orders (over 10 balconies), the process is carried out according to individual agreement.

What types of balcony railings we install

We mainly install four types of railings: glass-aluminium railings, full-glass railings, bar railings, and custom-solution railings. All products come from our partner Malmerk Klaasium’s product range. Samples can be viewed at the Malmerk office (Valdeku 132, Tallinn and Tähe 114, Tartu) on every working day from 8.00–16.30.

Glass-aluminium railing

Glass-aluminium railing is modern, airy and virtually maintenance-free. Such modern balcony railings are not designed only for new buildings — they are also an ideal solution for renovating older properties.

Full-glass railing

A key feature of contemporary architecture is modernity and airiness. Full-glass railing is an ideal solution in such cases, because tempered and laminated glass is strong enough to act as a structural element in its own right.

Bar railing

Bar railing is widely used in Scandinavia and due to high demand we have also added it to our product range. It is an aluminium railing that is virtually maintenance-free and easy to install. Glass is not used in this type of railing.

Custom railings for balconies

In addition to the standard solutions mentioned above, we also offer many custom-solution railings. We work on developing railing solutions on a daily basis so that we are able to help our clients with custom railing projects as well.

Balcony Railings FAQ

What type of glass do you recommend for balcony railings?

We always recommend using at least laminated glass for balcony railings, as it is safer in the event that the glass breaks. Laminate holds the broken glass in one piece and prevents shards from falling. Tempered and laminated glass is an even safer solution.

What colour options are available for balcony railings (profiles)?

Standard colours are white RAL 9010, dark brown RAL 8019 and dark grey RAL 7024. Other colours can be selected from the RAL colour catalogue.

Can balcony glazing be added to the railings later?

Yes, Malmerk glass-aluminium and bar railings are designed so that balcony glazing can be added to them at a later stage.

Do you also offer full-glass railings for balconies?

Yes, the Malmerk product range also includes various full-glass railing solutions.

Do you also offer glazing of an existing balcony railing?

Yes, if the existing balcony railing can be glazed. Unfortunately, it is not possible to glaze all balcony railings.

What should the railing mounting surface be like?

The best mounting surface is a solid concrete floor of adequate thickness. Railings can also be fixed to other surfaces, but in that case the balcony needs to be inspected and assessed by a specialist beforehand.

Is a building permit required to install a balcony railing?

Replacing a balcony railing generally does not require a building permit, but we recommend coordinating the work with the apartment association and, where necessary, with the local authority. We assist with any required documentation.

How long does balcony railing installation take?

Installing a single balcony railing generally takes 1–2 working days. For larger projects where an entire apartment building is upgraded, the schedule is agreed separately.

What guarantee applies to balcony railings?

Balcony railings come with a 2-year guarantee. The guarantee covers both material and installation defects.

Are glass railings suitable for Estonian winters?

Yes, Malmerk Klaasium balcony railings are designed for the Estonian climate. Aluminium profiles and tempered glass handle temperature fluctuations, ice and strong winds without any issues.

Are Malmerk Klaasium railing systems certified?

Yes, Malmerk Klaasium products have been tested and comply with European standards. The glass railings meet load requirements and the aluminium profiles are quality-controlled.

Is the measurement free of charge?

Yes, the measurement is free of charge. As a rule, we carry out the measurement when the initial quote is acceptable to the client and they wish to proceed with the work.
