Full Glass Solutions — From Foundation to Glass
Most glazing companies in Estonia sell and install glass only. If your terrace needs a new foundation, a structural frame, facade modifications, or a connection to the existing roof, you are sent to a separate builder.

Why Does This Matter?
The Problem: Two Contractors, Two Responsible Parties, Zero Guarantees
Here is what typically happens: you commission a glazing company for terrace glazing and a builder for the terrace structure. The builder builds the terrace, the glazing company installs the glass. Six months later the glass starts jamming.
Why? Because the builder did not know that:
- Frameless folding terrace glazing allows only ±2 mm of structural movement
- Framed sliding systems allow ±7 mm
- Frost heave was not adequately addressed in the foundation design
- The structure has started to move and that movement exceeds the glass system’s permitted tolerances
The glazing company says: “Our glass is fine — the problem is the structure.” The builder says: “We built it the way we always do — the glazier should have told us what was needed.” The client is stuck in the middle.
The Solution: One Contractor for the Whole Project
ATKA Klaaskoda handles the complete project:
Structural audit. Before any glazing work begins, we assess the existing structure. Does your current terrace, canopy or facade carry the weight of the glass system? Is the substrate stable enough? Could frost heave cause movement? We give honest answers before work starts, not after.
Correct dimensioning. We design the foundation, structural frame and fixing surfaces specifically to the glass solution’s requirements. We account for frost heave, soil characteristics, loads and the manufacturer’s specified tolerances.
Construction. We lay the foundation, build the terrace or winter garden structure, make any required facade modifications and integrate the roof. We use materials and solutions that ensure stability for years.
Glazing. We install Malmerk Klaasium glass solutions — balcony glazing, terrace glazing, railings or winter garden glass. All products are designed and manufactured in Estonia, CE-certified and VTT-tested.
One guarantee. We are responsible for the whole project. If anything moves, you do not need to find a culprit between two companies. Our guarantee covers both the structure and the glass solution.
Large-Span Solutions — Up to 15 Metres Without a Post
Many clients want a wide, uninterrupted view across their terrace or winter garden. Most companies stop at 3–4 metres because larger spans require custom beam engineering and structural calculations.
Our engineers have experience designing post-free openings up to 15 metres. This is made possible using steel beams or glulam beams dimensioned individually for each project’s specific span and load.
What this means in practice:
- Panoramic views of the garden or sea with no visual obstructions
- A terrace that can be fully opened with no posts in the way
- Suitable for private houses, restaurants and commercial properties alike
- Every project is individually engineered — no off-the-shelf solutions at this scale
Large-span solutions cost more than standard solutions because they require custom beams and more precise structural engineering. But the result speaks for itself — and it is worth every cent.
What Does the Full Solution Cover?
Foundation work: Strip foundations, pad foundations, helical pile foundations — chosen to suit the soil and the project requirements. Frost heave and glass system movement tolerances are accounted for in the design.
Terrace structure: Timber, steel and composite frames. Decking installation. Railings and handrails.
Facade modifications: Widening openings, adding doorways, adapting facade elements to suit the glass solution.
Roof integration: Canopies, glass roofs, extending an existing roof over the terrace. Rainwater drainage.
Glass solutions: Malmerk Klaasium terrace glazing (framed, frameless sliding, frameless folding), balcony glazing, balcony railings (glass-aluminium, full-glass, bar railings), winter gardens with glass roofs.
Finishing: External cladding where required, flashing, profile concealment and matching the new work to the existing building.
Who Should Choose the Full Solution?
